Déjà Entendu

Have you been studying a language different from your mother tongue? You may have experienced the frustration of trying to remember an idiom you’ve overheard in the past, from a conversation or a lesson. That’s what Déjà Entendu is for. It lets you highlight and review unfamiliar terms from your own recordings, notes and images for future study.

Déjà Entendu (meaning “already heard” in French) lets iOS, iPadOS, and macOS users translate, transcribe and create flashcards from images, recordings or sound samples on their own device. (Voice Memos files aren’t accessible to other apps by Apple design, so save any recordings you want to study to the Files app first.)

Private by design

It is not a cloud service. Any use of the on-device, Apple-bundled language model stays private to you — nothing is uploaded, and there’s no backend at all. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Languages

Déjà Entendu supports over 40 languages from around the world for recognizing and translating text. Turn on the ones you’re studying in the Settings tab.
